How to Convert Metal King Bed Frame from Slats and Rails

A metal king bed frame typically has a metal bar that extends through the center of the bed. This metal bar offers support for the bed and keeps the mattress and the mattress from sliding or sinking in the center. Some older frames lack this support completely and with newer frames, it is possible that they lose the central support or leg of that support. The conversion of a king’s frame to one with slats requires the use of a new center supports that makes arrangements between the existing lanes.

Turn the center ribbon support upside down. Look for the sliding assembly, which is a metal cylinder that serves as the leg. Remove all your bedding and linens from the bed and remove both the mattress and the box spring. Adjust the center support in the middle of the rails. Pull the end of the stand until it is long enough to touch the two side rails. Look at the end of the bracket where it touches the side rail. Mark the location of the side guide hole. Make the location of each hole.

Place a drilling floor against one of its marks. Turn the drill and push down, drilling a hole directly through the metal. Repeat this step with the marks for each hole. Align the holes in the center supports with the holes in each rail. Slide a bolt that comes with the support through the hole in the bracket and into the hole in the rail. Tighten the screw with a nut and washer. Repeat this step with each hole.
