Learn how to transform a boring bedside tray table into a beauty inspired by mid-century aesthetics, in just five steps.

Step 1: Choose a bedside tray table or simple dresser

Choose or buy a bedside table or dresser. Make sure the bedside table piece has at least drawer. You should also make sure that the drawer has the right size for the template, so you should have it handy when you look for the furniture.

Step 2: Place the template on the front of the drawer

Remove the drawer or, if possible, disassemble the whole front of the piece. Extend the drawer or the front wood on a flat surface and remove the handle. Bring the template in a well-ventilated area and spray the back with a uniform layer of aerosol adhesive. Put the wood or drawer back on the flat surface and center the template around the handle hole. Adjust it in place with your fingertips.

Step 3: Cover the rest of the wood with masking tape

Use a masking tape for delicate surfaces and covers the rest of the front of the drawer, as well as the sides. Press firmly on the edges of the tape with your fingertips.

Step 4: Apply spray paint to the template

Bring the drawer or front wood to a well-ventilated area and spread it on a cardboard or paper. Spray two or three thin layers of paint, the color of your preference, trying to avoid areas covered with masking tape. If necessary, take the opportunity to paint also the shooter you will use.

Step 5: Reattach the fitting

Carefully remove the masking tape and template, once you have applied the last coat of paint. Doing so will ensure that the paint does not adhere and come out with the template. Wait for it to dry for 24 hours before handling the drawer or the front of the drawer. Once this time has elapsed, place the shooter in place to finish the project. Lasts enjoy your beautiful bedside tray table!
