Measure the length and width of your bare mattress. Measure from the top of the box spring in the floor for the finished hanging length. Cut the drapery lining material 1 1/2 inches longer and 1 inch wider than the mattress to make a platform for your lavender bed skirt set. Sew two widths of curtain pendant together if your bed is wider than the material. Curve the lower corners of the platform to match the resurfacing corner at the foot of the bed. Place the fabric with the straight side down. Fold the top edge over 1/2 inch. Fold it again to make a double fold. Pin the fold with straight sticks. Machine sewing along the length of the double fold, using a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Double mattress length, then add to width. Multiply the sum by 2.5. Cut full width fabric until the combined width is equal to the total. Cut pieces 2 1/2 inches longer than the finished hanging length. Pin the right edge of the first width of fabric to the left edge of the other width. Pin them straight to the right. Continue with the rest of the weaves until you have a long strip of lavender bed skirt fabric. Sew the pieces together with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Double fold the short left side of the long strip 1/2 inch as you did with the fabric platform in Step 3. Pin the gap and sew it with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Repeat with the short right side.

Double fold the bottom on the long strip to the hemlock; make every inch an inch. Place the strap on the right side of your sewing machine. Sew double folding in place on the length with a 3/4 inch seam allowance. Cut a string 6 inches longer than the final total from lavender bed skirt part. Pin the string on the length to the wrong side of the long textile band, 1/4 inch from the upper edge. Leave several inches of string loose from each end of the fabric strip. Attach a zigzag foot to your sewing machine. Put stitches to zigzag and stitch width to its widest setting. Place the long cloth on your sewing machine, right side down. Center the string under zigzag foot. Zigzag over the string, but do not let the needle go through it.
