Ideas for the Metal Trundle Bed Frame

A metal trundle bed frame (sometimes called a trundle bed) is a kind of “two beds in a” contraption – a bed frame and the mattress can be slid or rolled under a slightly larger bed frame for storage when it is not in use. This allows an extra bed (stowed out of the way) when necessary, but also opens the door to other storage and use opportunities.

The most obvious use of a trundle bed is its intended purpose – as an additional occasional bed. The smaller bed (the bed that goes under the main structure) typically has a relatively thin and springless mattress on the box so that it can fit into its enclosure. This smaller bed may not be ideal for regular use. Nest beds are more commonly double in size, although some models feature a double bed frame with a double trundle bed or two single mattresses.

Many trundle beds feature built-in drawers that pull out onto or under the nest mattress. Even if the trundle bed does not come with extra drawers made, many models are designed in such a way that the spare mattress rests in a large drawer. In this case, you can remove the spare mattress and use the large drawer to store seasonal clothing or other items, as needed. Nest beds designed from metal frames can still be used for this purpose. You may want to hide the stored items by using the beds that protrude from the structure of the main bed.
