Wash the fabric sari and support according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow it to dry properly. Most saris must be air dried line or planted. The basic tissue can be thrown in the dryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Draw the layout and size of your finished manly quilts. Take into account any stains, tears or abnormal wears that appear in the sari fabric. Making a smaller blanket gives the opportunity to cut off some ugly areas and use them for filler instead of on the visual parts of the rug.

Cut out the parts of sari that you do not want to show on your finished manly quilts part. Measure the size of the sari fabric you use after all the cuts if you use a large piece. Sew all the patches together in the order you have placed. Measure the size of the finished patch. For a patchwork style quilt, you can also base your measurements of finished quilt size as you need. For example, if you cover a double bed and use multiple saris for patchwork design; finished size will need 86 inches-by-86 inches. Cut a piece of support fabric to the same size as the cut sari fabric or finished blanket.

Layer the base fabric, with the right side down on the work surface, then cover the wad or filler, followed by sari. Place sari, or patchwork, fabric right side up. The right side is the side of sari you want to show on the manly quilts set. Pinch the three pieces in several places across the project to hold everything together and prevent displacement while sewing. Step the sewing machine with the coordinating thread and attach the stop foot, which is sometimes called a free movement of the embroidery foot of the embroidery foot. Place the blanket underneath the needle and lower the presser foot. Sew in each pattern you choose to permanently sew the layers together. Remove the pins as you encounter them before pulling them underneath the needle. If the needle contacts a pin, it may cause personal injury or damage to the project.
