You may have a leak in your swimming pool skimmer if the water level leaks out of your pool below the skimmer mouth anywhere down to 18 inch below the skimmer’s mouth bottom and stops. The common leak source comes from the overlooked toward an equalizer from the bottom of skimmer to the main drains during a renovation. All you have to do is to access the main drain which it connects to, for the equalizer line testing. Process of elimination is the only way to test the equalizer line, there is no other optional ways.
The next step is fill the skimmer with water by plugging the ports in the bottom of the skimmer,
And make sure the pump is off. Use a pencil to mark the water level, then leave it for 24 hours. You do not have a crack in the body of the skimmer if it hold the water.
You can also test your plumbing system if you think the leak comes from the pool plumbing line. Before you do the plumbing test, you have to inspect your pumps operation. One of many leak indication is there is an excessive air in the pump basket and fix the swimming pool skimmer.
